The founders of the NXT classroom are a diverse group—
Editor: Damien Kee holds a PhD in Robotics and Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Queensland. Damien has been heavily involved with the RoboCup Junior competition since 2001 and is currently serving as Chairman of RoboCup Junior Australia. He has been running robotics workshops in Queensland, Australia and Internationally for students and teachers since 2002 and has worked with over 1000 teachers and countless more students.
Senior Contributor: James Floyd Kelly is a writer and robot tinkerer from Atlanta, Georgia. He writes book about the NXT and other computer topics; he has degrees in English and Industrial Engineering. He enjoys helping teachers and students with robot building and programming and participates in FIRST LEGO League and other events to share his knowledge with others as well as learn from them, too.
Senior Contributor: Fay Rhodes, also an NXT author and member of the MINDSTORMS Community Partners advisory panel, comes at this project from the perspective of an artist, a parent, and a grandparent. Fay holds a degree in elementary education and has a particular interest in using the NXT creatively to engage girls and non-competitive students—not only to awaken hidden talents, but to prepare well-rounded and broadly-educated adults.
What we have in common is a strong commitment to helping teachers become comfortable with the NXT, fluent in programming it and able to make the most of their material investment.
